I got to meet Caitlyn & John this past weekend to take their engagement session portraits at Manassas Battlefield Park! I’d never shot there before but it truly matches Caitlyn & John’s love of nature and was so perfect for the backdrop of their engagement session! When Caitlyn reached out to me about photographing her WEDDING day I was so excited!! Caitlyn and I went to high school together six years ago and I was SO happy to see her reach out about wedding photography!
Caitlyn and John finally met one day after having “worked” together for months and months without ever actually SEEING each other! She had always analyzed the results in lab that John was getting out in the field. Coincidentally, he came into the lab one day and they met! They instantly had that spark that grows into so much more! As they got to know each other better, they realized they had the same views on pretty much everything from big topics like politics & finance to the fun little things that brighten each day. Before they knew it, they were hanging out all the time! For their proposal, John took Caitlyn on a hike near Blacksburg where they met! Caitlyn KNEW it was coming since in the car John’s dad nearly gave it away. But on top of the mountain, John DROPPED the ring down the mountain!!! And Caitlyn, like anyone else who sees a ring FALL down a mountain, was freaking out!
I audibly grasped when I heard her tell me this hahaha. Looking back on it, Caitlyn realized how entirely unfazed John had seemed at the time. But this was because he had the real ring tucked away in his pocket safe and secure. However, it was such a a happy moment when he got the real ring out!!
I’m super excited to be able to celebrate with these two during their wedding in Blacksburg where they’ll be getting married at the same church Caitlyn attended during school! We’ll have to see if Caitlyn’s adorable little puppy, Hazel, is able to be a part of their day 🙂 I’m really looking forward to seeing Caitlyn’s dress since John is actually the one who picked it out. I love this sweet & modern twist on the tradition of the groom not seeing the bride’s dress before the big day!
But until then, here are some of my all time FAVORITES from their engagement session this past weekend!
ALL the love for Hazel 🙂
