Watching a friend get married is SO special and I say that after a year worth of weddings where I do happen to closely know at least one of the two getting married! I met Kayla through AOE at UVA and although we had a wide variety of personalities in our sorority and truly incredible girls in our year, Kayla is one of them that stood out. She has the type of presence that is felt more than heard. She’s calm, incredibly smart, and is always considerate of everyone around her. She’s the kind of person that will blow you away with her accomplishments that you didn’t even know about until someone else tells you! She is someone you want in your corner 🙂
Connor was lucky enough to meet Kayla through UVA’s marching band. Our marching band is known not only for being really, really good (they performed at the Macy’s Day Parade while we were in college) but also for being a super tight knit group on Grounds! You would see different sections eating together at Newcomb, out at parties together, and of course, spending a countless number of hours together in practice and at the football & basketball games. These two met through Marching Band and had their first date out on the Corner and then spent hours walking around together on Grounds. Such a cute UVA couples’ story! After a couple more years of lots of UVA dates, graduating and then moving to Philly, and even more pizza à la Nick’s Pizza and movie dates, Connor finally proposed while they were out hiking Old Rag together back in Virginia during Valentine’s Day weekend last year!
It was so sweet watching these two support each other during their engagement and getting to see their adventures in Philly and then their recent move back to the Northern Virginia area! They ended up postponing their brunch wedding in Philly to next year due to the pandemic but I am SO grateful they asked me to capture their intimate wedding day in Kayla’s parents’ backyard this year!
Thank you both for trusting me to capture your wedding day, it was a true privilege! I can not tell you how lucky I felt to be capturing such a special and intimate day for you guys. I hope these photos will always serve as a reminder of your love & support of each other 🙂 I can’t wait for Round 2 in 2021 with the rest of your family and friends for the big reception in Philly!!
