I first met Laura a couple of months ago at a Rising Tide Society Tuesdays Together meeting. For those that haven’t heard of it, the Rising Tide Society is a group of creative entrepreneurs that meet up monthly to discuss one topic that pertains to effectively running a small businesses. The topic changes monthly but allows creatives of all different types around the same geographic area to meet up, connect with each other, and share their knowledge and helpful tips on the topic each month. It makes running a small business slightly less lonely at least once a month! You get to meet someone new each time and reconnect with and support friends that truly understand the struggles of running a solo business. Plus, the Rising Tide Society complies an informational packet that outlines amazing tips, resources and education regarding the topic at hand each month that help you grow your business in that area.
Laura was one of the first people I met at my very first Tuesdays Together meeting. I went in feeling super nervous since I’d never been to one before and wouldn’t know a single soul there either. Laura was immediately a friendly soul that was super welcoming and so easy to talk to! She didn’t hold back at all when I asked her probably the most basic questions about SEO and then even more specific ones as to how to incorporate it in my website. Ever since then, I’ve followed her photography work and appreciated the life she’s built for herself in Reston Town Center from her creative work in both photography and videography (to say she’s talented would be an understatement). I was super excited when she reached out to me for a fall mini portrait session in Georgetown. Laura had a pretty specific vision when she came to me for what she wanted since she’s planning on using her portraits to update her website! I love that she will actually be utilizing her pictures instead of letting them collect dust in an online gallery, I love it when clients showcase or print out their pictures! I’m so honored that she trusted me to take them for HER photography website!!!
We spent time walking around Georgetown and capturing a ton of pictures of her both rocking it solo AND with her trusty Nikon. We even got a super awesome couple to stop for a few seconds to capture some “behind the scenes” shots of her photographing a real couple (she actually DID direct them and capture a couple of shots so it wasn’t entirely made up haha)! We ended her session at Peet’s Coffee on M street and got a couple of shots in her native coffee shop environment which turned out as some of my favorites! Laura, I loved getting to connect with you and capture some new portraits for your website! I can’t wait to deliver all of your images to you and see how you use them!! Thank you so much for gifting me with chocolate, it was the sweetest gesture (no pun intended)! I can’t wait to work with you again soon π
