Alex & Carter took their Arlington engagement session photos earlier this week at the Netherlands Carillon! I always encourage my couples to choose a location that’s meaningful to my couples and so they chose where they got engaged 🙂 I’ve known Alex since high school (#GoSeahawks) and we actually became good friends once we went to UVA together! Which is where Alex met Carter! Alex was an RA for the majority of his time at UVA and these two met through the Housing & Residence Life community. Their first date was grabbing sandwiches from a Charlottesville market and picnicking at Observatory Hill on Grounds! Definitely a top date night spot amongst the Hoos, I might be speaking from personal experience hahaha. These two are super down to earth, fun to be around but more than anything else, they were super loyal to each other, their family and friends and love that they each care for the other person so well!
After dating for a couple of years and even taking an international trip together to India & Sri Lanka, Alex popped the question just this past year! Carter had been studying for her LSAT and when she got home, Alex insisted that they go on a walk through the park even with a bit of resistance from Carter’s end. They walked around a park near them in Arlington close to where they live and and Alex took her down to a beautiful spot right in front of the Carillon. Sitting on a nearby bench, he got down one knee and Carter totally thought he was just joking once again! He had been known to “fake” propose over the last couple of months and end up tying a shoelace instead so she didn’t really think much of it and she jokingly stuck out her hand only to see him pull out a VERY real ring box and ring from his pocket!! After a lot of tears and laughter, she said YES!!
Alex & Carter, I’m SO excited to celebrate not only your engagement but your wedding day and be able to capture these moments for you two!! It’s crazy watching Alex get married since I went to HIGH SCHOOL with him. It’s definitely reminded me of how fast life goes by and to hold onto and cherish the good moments in life that make it so beautiful! And the good people that make life that much sweeter. Their wedding day is coming up this July and I can’t wait to capture what I know is going to be such a classic, elegant and relaxed day at the National Museum of Women in the Arts! But until then, enjoy some favorites from their fall engagement session 🙂
This is the exact bench they got engaged at!!
