A while ago I responded to a photographer about doing a headshot swap in D.C. and after having to reschedule a couple of times, Caroline and I finally met during THE most perfect summer evening at the Kennedy Center to take pictures! She’d never been there to take pictures before but I think it’s safe to say that this place pulled off the perfect backdrop for some headshots! We went back and forth between taking pictures and even pulled out a second outfit for the upper terrace pictures where we caught the perfect summer sunset! I haven’t taken pictures right at the end of golden hour in a while but it was SOO pretty, I was blown away!!
Also, being in front of the camera is seriously such a humbling experience. Being a photographer, you’re behind the camera a lot more often than you are in front. And as much as there is going on behind there with settings, composing, and posing, yesterday served as a reminder of just how hard it is to be in front of the camera as well! If you’re anything like me, you don’t know where to put your hands or if what you’re doing is going to look good for the camera and that’s all you’re really thinking about as you smile! But Caroline made it super easy to feel amazing in front of the camera and I think it’s every photographer’s job to put you at ease like she did! So if you’re having your pictures taken soon and you’re nervous, don’t worry!  We’ve all been there and we will ALWAYS be there when we have our pictures taken too! Trust me, photographers get it and we got you & we will do or say anything to put you at ease and make sure we capture genuine smiles and laughs 🙂
Here are some favorites of Caroline, who I’m convinced was actually a model in another life! Also, you should check out her work because I don’t know anything about food or product photography, but this girl does it right!! Plus her portraits are amazing as well and she is just getting into them!!
Pictures of me soon to be hitting probably hittin’ all the Insta squares and around my website so keep an eye out for those and know that they were taken by this girl up there!

I’ve known Sachi since before we could even walk really, there’s pictures of us in those cute little party hats at our second birthday party. She’s been my best friend growing up and we’ve gone through almost everything together. I’m talking elementary school, those awkward middle school years, hundreds of dance performances together, choreographing and dancing for our high school dance company, surviving the IB program at South Lakes and then four years (well five for her because she did a co-op at Altec!) of the engineering life at VT and UVA. She’s been there for me through literally everything. We’ve watched each other grow and always been the ones to keep each other in check and be honest with each other.
I remember four years ago when she called me up when we were both starting out in college and she told me that she had met a boy. Our friend had dragged her to go get icecream and they had tagged along with two guys. Well one of those guys was Kunal and I could tell from the first few minutes of talking to me about him, that this was someone that was a keeper. He was sweet, funny, calm, and down to earth. A basketball fanatic and “mathlete.” They started dating within the first few weeks of college and Drillfield dates eventually turned into a strong four year relationship. They’ve been through semesters together at VT to semesters being apart handling grueling co-op schedules and only strengthened their relationship through their experiences. They are two people that you can simply count on to make it work and have been my role models for what a great relationship in college looks like. They are so supportive of each other but also very honest with each other always, always work through their differences.
I’ve been meaning to take their pictures together for ages but there were so many summers that we were in different places. But this summer, they were both in Northern Virginia and I needed a couple to dress up all fancy for a shoot. I asked Sachi and she said they could make it work within the next couple of days. We metroed in to D.C. and right before they went to a J. Cole concert in D.C we went over to the Kennedy Center to take pictures. I have been dying to take pictures at the Kennedy Center for years, so this in of itself made my heart so happy. But this shoot ended up being one of my favorite shoots to date!!! I mean you can’t go wrong taking pictures of your best friend and her boyfriend when they looked like models straight out of a magazine! And for people that don’t exactly enjoy “posing” in front of the camera, they were AMAZING!! We got through everything so quickly and effortlessly, you guys seemed like naturals 🙂 Thank you guys sooo much for helping me out and letting me take your pictures!!! Here’s some of my favorites from the shoot!
Favorite! ^^^ They have the dance dip down to a T! Thank you for modeling for me for this shoot and I can’t wait for all the pictures of you guys I hope to take in the future 🙂
