A while ago I responded to a photographer about doing a headshot swap in D.C. and after having to reschedule a couple of times, Caroline and I finally met during THE most perfect summer evening at the Kennedy Center to take pictures! She’d never been there to take pictures before but I think it’s safe to say that this place pulled off the perfect backdrop for some headshots! We went back and forth between taking pictures and even pulled out a second outfit for the upper terrace pictures where we caught the perfect summer sunset! I haven’t taken pictures right at the end of golden hour in a while but it was SOO pretty, I was blown away!!
Also, being in front of the camera is seriously such a humbling experience. Being a photographer, you’re behind the camera a lot more often than you are in front. And as much as there is going on behind there with settings, composing, and posing, yesterday served as a reminder of just how hard it is to be in front of the camera as well! If you’re anything like me, you don’t know where to put your hands or if what you’re doing is going to look good for the camera and that’s all you’re really thinking about as you smile! But Caroline made it super easy to feel amazing in front of the camera and I think it’s every photographer’s job to put you at ease like she did! So if you’re having your pictures taken soon and you’re nervous, don’t worry! Β We’ve all been there and we will ALWAYS be there when we have our pictures taken too! Trust me, photographers get it and we got you & we will do or say anything to put you at ease and make sure we capture genuine smiles and laughs π
