I may have done a little happy dance when Manavi’s email landed in my inbox! I saw her get engaged to Quan and was SO so happy when she reached out about wedding photography for their June Poplar Springs Manor wedding next year! They’ll be having a bit of a fusion wedding but have a Baraat through the poplars for them to see each other!!
I’ve known Manavi since being in the hardest math class together in high school and I always mention on the blog how special it is to see real-life friends become clients and being trusted with capturing their wedding day! I think there’s nothing sweeter than being able to photograph their wedding day up close and am so honored that I get to experience every part of their wedding day along with them from getting ready to photographing their exit!
Manavi & Quan actually met on their FIRST day at Virginia Tech where they are both studying medicine. But it wasn’t until later when they spent a weekend together with their mutual friends at a beach house in SC and were the first people up one morning. They started talking and ended up talking about really big topics really quickly and knew that they instantly clicked. They are now in their last year at VT together and are figuring out their residencies and their wedding plans among the current pandemic. Ironically one of their first dates was playing a game called Pandemic!
Later for their proposal, Quan told Manavi that he was dying to play Pandemic because he hadn’t played in a while. She thought that was pretty normal because, well they were in the middle of the pandemic…but it turned out that Quan had planned the whole thing! He added an event card to the game that he wrote himself, and named it “The proposal”. While Manavi pulled out the new card and was reading it, confused, he pulled a ring out and got down on one knee!!!
We took their engagement session pictures at King Family Vineyards in Charlottesville where they had actually had one of their first dates! It was fun getting to hang out with them and taking their pictures! Although it was the middle of the day and REAL HOT out you could easily see how much fun they have together and how they take everything as an adventure together. I could seriously talk about how great these two are and how much I love photographing clients that are friends but I’ll let you guys get to the actual pictures!!
