My family made our first long distance trip of the summer to show my uncle, who is visiting from India, one of the great wonders of the world, Niagara Falls! We drove up to Buffalo, NY on the first night and had dinner with family friends. My dad had recently gone through and digitized a lot of my baby videos, and I got to meet a girl who I had been “baby friends” with! It was such a fun time re-watching these videos after meeting her for the first time and she was super apologetic for pushing me over as a baby herself, which was by far, the funniest video of them all! It was a good way to wind down from the 7 hour drive up to the border of the country.
The next morning we spent the whole day at Niagara Falls from the New York sidesince my uncle wouldn’t be able to cross the border and see it from the Canadian side. Me and my brother had been about 10 years ago but didn’t remember much of the place so it was awesome getting to see it again!
We took the famous Maid of the Mist boat ride to see the American Falls & Horshoe Falls up close! They give you the funny looking blue ponchos that save you from getting a bit more than mist on you. It’s hard to describe being up close to the falls, it’s so incredibly loud and so powerful. The pictures don’t really do it justice!
After the boat ride, we walked up a giant staircase right along the American Falls to get a good side view. It was super hot but the mist from the falls made it very enjoyable!
We then went to Luna Island where we got to see the American Falls from the very top. It is CRAZY how crystal clear the water is and how strong the water is leading up to right before it falls over cliff! Also featured is the infamous (by me and my brother’s thoughts) selfie stick that my dad broke out below. Oh man, he was just one of soo many people using one!
The picture above was from the top of the Horshoe Falls where even at the top of the waterfall, it is so incredibly misty from all of the water pouring down below and rising up as mist. You can see this cloud of mist from literally MILES away. Not pictured yet is Cave of the Winds which allows you to first go down 17 stories via elevator, and then walk up red, wooden staircases by the American Falls and get POUNDED by the water up close! They have what they call a Hurricane Deck which is so close to the falls that you can actually reach out and touch the water going down past the rocks! There was so much water flying everywhere that I didn’t dare use my camera, but my dad got some iPhone shots that I’ll try to include here!
We went out to dinner in the town of Niagara Falls, NY but came back at night to watch the fireworks show that launches from on the water by the falls. They light up the American and Horshoe falls at night with lights which is really, really cool! I liked the red, white, and blue that the American Falls was showcasing as a tribute to the U.S.A. competing in Rio! The fireworks show was quick, but perfect!! I LOVE fireworks, so it was incredible watching them right over a waterfall from an observatory deck way, way up high! I think this was my favorite part of the trip 🙂
Hehehe, I didn’t catch TOO many new Pokemon, but my brother did catch a pokeball hahahaha
The next day we went to the aquarium (I also love aquariums along with fireworks) and it was so cute watching these sea lions interact with the trainers! There were also sharks and PENGUINS!!
I had a great time traveling to Niagara Falls and hope to go back again some day to witness it from the Canadian side again! This was a great weekend trip and I’m glad we got to go 🙂 Thanks to my dad for taking the pictures of me!
