In the world of photography and business, your mindset is absolutely crucial to longterm success! It’s the thing that I *most* coach around — even when my photography clients are coming to me with more strategy or tactical things within their business. - Fixed vs. Growth Mindset — Embracing a growth mindset over a fixed one is key. It’s about being open to trying new strategies, continuously improving, and learning from setbacks. This mindset lays the foundation for long-term success, allowing you to adapt to challenges and thrive in a dynamic industry. A really great read if you want to learn more about this topic in depth is the book Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol Dweck.
- Stepping into your CEO Identity — Being the business owner and CEO is more than just a title—it comes with a big mindset shift to take your passion and your hobby and turn it into a profitable business. In the video I talk about a few tangible ways to start stepping into the identity of the business owner (instead of “just the photographer”) by implementing Quarterly CEO Days where you reflect, optimize, and plan gives you a bird’s-eye view of your business. I also stress to each of my clients to consider their data in their decision making process (rather than just how they feel at any one given point of time). I think having the numbers and data can help empower yourself to steer your business towards growth and sustainability —and is an essential skill every CEO should possess.
- Celebrating Small Wins / The Dopamine Effect — Never underestimate the power of celebrating small wins along the way! Guys, each milestone, no matter how minor, deserves recognition! I’ve learned this the hard way!! About a year into starting my business I hit a major point of burnout despite achieving the biggest milestone I’d had on my heart for years of going full-time in my photography business. I learned the hard way that it’s crucial to acknowledge and celebrating small wins along the way to fuel your motivation and enjoyment in running your photography business day-to-day. It’s about embracing the journey and finding joy in the progress, rather than postponing celebration until reaching a major milestone!
