Meklit was one of the first people I met at UVA since she was my RA. I remember mistaking her for just another first year in the elevator up to my dorm floor. However, despite being my RA for the year she came to become more of a friend and someone that I went to for advice. She would always come in and chat in our study rooms late night and marvel at the calculus scrawled over the whiteboard. She was also the most helpful person during one of the craziest weeks my first year when my computer broke (which nearly equates to the world ending for an engineer). I was truly lucky to have met her and that her smile always made Watson-Webb feel like home. Take a look at the most infectious smile I’ve ever come across!
Could not have asked for a more beautiful smile! We got to explore several places around UVA Grounds including the beautiful stone backdrops of the McIntire School of Commerce where Meklit spent her last 2 years working towards a business degree.
We ended our session at one of my favorite spots to take pictures at UVA which I call the “breezeway” by the Amphitheater. I had a great time spending the afternoon with her and can’t wait to hear about all of her adventures she’ll go on to in Georgia when she comes and visits the ‘ville again.
