Washingtonian Feature – Cherry Blossom Indian Fusion Wedding
November 1, 2019
Maya and Darian’s big wedding weekend, I should say, was SO filled with fun and joy!! I’m celebrating their feature on the Washingtonian this past week by bringing back their beautiful wedding day blog post 🙂 You can see the feature here on the Washingtonian!!
The entire last week was full of wedding festivities including their Mehndi, Baraat, Indian ceremony and then a full wedding day on Saturday at the GW Masonic Memorial Temple out in Old Town Alexandria! Friday was SO MUCH FUN!! I loved being able to capture Darian’s Baraat as he rode into the Rajdani Mandir on a horse with everyone dancing out in front of them with an amazing dhol player!! Their ceremony was at the Rajdani Mandir followed by a lunch reception. Everything was so beautifully decorated and I loved being able to meet their family & friends that had come out to celebrate!
After being married on Friday during their Indian ceremony, Saturday was a full wedding day as round two! I loved that they did a first look before their ceremony with all the memorial’s steps to themselves!! It was BEAUTIFUL and you could not get more classic and iconic DC! Their florist, JR Flowers, knocked it out of the park and we even lucked out with getting some portraits in front of a set of full bloomed cherry blossoms!! Their portraits at the Masonic Memorial will forever be some of my favorites and I loved that we had so much time during the day to make these happen and the patented Maya laugh is the cutest!! However, my favorite moment of the day is a tie between when Maya & Darian exchanged personal vows and there wasn’t a dry in the room and when Maya’s grandfather who helped raise her gave a toast at the reception! The entire day was such a joyous celebration and it never stopped from the second Maya and Darian got ready to when Darian tore up the dance floor and they partied the night away, perfectly mixing up Indian and American traditions in one glorious day!
Maya & Darian, thank you SO much for allowing me the opportunity to capture both days for you!! I loved being a part of the celebration and hope you love your wedding pictures just as much as I do!
Thank you to the incredible vendor team that helped the day come together:
