It hasn’t hit me yet that I have THREE whole days off of work for this weekend! What a blessing! But more importantly, a very big thank you to all the men & women that have given their lives and have served this country to help it remain a beautiful & peaceful place to live. I don’t think we have any way to repay you for your service but I hope a humble thank you goes a little way.
This Memorial Day weekend we made the most of our days! We traveled an hour away to get a filling of fresh crabs at Mike’s in Annapolis, Maryland. We spent the afternoon digging right in and getting messy eating a dozen of crabs. I also tried soft shell crab for the first time in a sandwich. The fries with tartar sauce & old bay were on point! We meandered through Downtown, passing by the cutest boutiques, to the harbor near the Naval Academy. We spent a while by the dock watching ships come and go and soaking up the sun.
For Day II we traveled out another hour to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Getting to the town of Bolivar was quite an adventure. Our family friends were waiting to grab some lunch with us and the address of the place first took us to an apartment complex. Take two took us through a one way tunnel and then down a rickety dirt road past campers right alongside the river. We bumped along for about ten minutes before hitting a road closed sign. My brother and dad even performed a Chinese fire drill to switch drivers before driving out the way we came over many more rocks and bumps. Take three was the charm and got us into town where we ate at the Coach House. After that, we walked along the bridge right by the train track that goes through the mountain. Coming back into the town we grabbed some iced coffee & ice cream. We wanted to climb up near the church to view the entire surrounding area but it started to rain so we headed back home. The drive back was definitely less adventurous, but the trip was good fun! Thanks Dad for grabbing pictures of me when I climbed down to the river and on the bridge!
