I met Kim through AOE years ago while we went to college together at UVA! There is nothing that bonds you quite like going through the engineering program together haha! I actually took her graduation portraits on the Lawn when she graduated a year before I did! If you go all the way back, they’re actually on the blog 🙂 It’s always so fun to be able to photograph different milestones in friends’ lives from graduation to engagement sessions!!

I was super excited when Kim reached out about being engaged with Jimmy! They were debating having their wedding in Charlottesville but ultimately fell in love with a venue up in New Jersey where they’re from and booked it ON the spot! That’s when you KNOW it’s meant to be. I was glad that they decided to take their engagement session photos in Charlottesville at Carter Mountain though since Charlottesville is where their story began! They actually met each other on Kim’s 21st birthday on the Corner which is a classic beginning of a UVA love story!! It ended up being a CRAZY night with one of Jimmy’s brothers breaking a toe and the other breaking a heel! But their first official date went a lot smoother. Jimmy asked Kim to be his date to the Military Ball which is held annually at the beautiful Omni Hotel in Downtown Charlottesville. They loved getting dressed up and spending an entire (injury-free) night getting to know each other better!

They are both SUPER excited to be married after getting engaged this past year! And they might just be a little more excited bout their honeymoon out to Cabo, Mexico more than anything else! They haven’t traveled in a while and are taking an extended trip out to really enjoy a true relaxing vacation which I’m sure will be just what they need after the craziness of a wedding 🙂 They’ve been to Jamaica together but something tells me they’ll always love Cabo!

Kim & James, thank you SO much for letting me capture a part of your story and celebrate your engagement alongside you guys at Carter Mountain this past week! It was so much fun catching up and capturing portraits that I hope you’ll look back on one day to reminisce of the time you were engaged before you were officially newlyweds!!
