This past weekend, after having to reschedule too many times because of Virginia weather, I finally got to spend the afternoon photographing Jen & Patrick’s engagement session in Old Town Alexandria! They knew they wanted their pictures taken somewhere near the water since they both love spending time out on the water. Old Town was the perfect backdrop for these two and it was so much fun getting to know them better! They were absolutely NATURALS in front of the camera and made my job so easy!! Even Patrick commented on how FUN the session was 🙂
Jen & Patrick had their first date at Top Golf which is a place out in Alexandria where you can enjoy food and drinks while enjoying the driving range from 2 story balconies. It was a good sign when Patrick said that he knew a little American Sign Language since Jen works at Gallaudet and has a little hearing loss herself. It’s such a fun first date and they instantly hit it off! Fast forward some time and they went to Jen’s friend’s wedding in Long Island. The day after the wedding, they went out to Fire Island Light House and went up to the very top! Jen was admiring the view and super excited to be able to see deer out in a patch way down below that she didn’t even realize what was happening! Patrick asked Jen what she was doing for the rest of her life and got down on his knee! Then he asked her to marry him in American Sign Language! She was SO blown away and happy and obviously said YES!! You’ll see a bit of their story in the pictures that we took in Old Town 🙂
Like I said, these two love being able to spend time near the water, Patrick has a love of fishing so they knew they wanted their wedding to be somewhere close to the water making Harbour View (a place I LOVE shooting at!) a great place to get married this upcoming fall! I’m super excited for their wedding day since it’s going to be beautiful out on the docks and with the fall foliage! I could photograph the custom made engagement ring Patrick got for Jen ALL day long but they’re toying with the idea of dusty pinks, gold & navy for the wedding so you KNOW it’s going to be stunning and ideal in every way possible!!
