If anyone else felt completely overwhelmed with the amount of work they came back to after the holiday break, I am 100% with you!! Trying to cram in a whole week’s worth of work into 3 days (especially when you’re feeling like a slug) is not ideal. Here’s a look at my travels over the past week & what I’m working on before the New Year hits!

  • Right before I went out of town for a week I photographed a portrait session and engagement session whose images I turned around as fast as I could! However, I also met with a mentor who gave me a TON of really great advice, the most major of which was to update my website to match my caliber of work. If you’ve followed along for a while you might know that I won a website template at the Creative at Heart Conference which I went to in November! So over the course of the past couple of days I’ve been not only catching up on a lot of work but also almost entirely overhauling my website integrating pieces of the new template into my existing design! This has got me working some really long hours again behind the computer screen but I know it’ll definitely be worth it to get a more polished website to present my photography to future couples.
  • For anyone that’s curious (I’ve gotten this question a lot), I host my website through SquareSpace, design on Showit and have a WordPress blog. So whenever I go in to change my website, I design both the desktop & mobile version for each and every page. It takes a LOT of time but I dreamt of being a web-designer when I was a little kid so I actually really enjoy the process! I’m hoping the new site feels a little bit more like me and my brand, uses more minimal space yet is vibrant & fun! There’s more touches of marble as a tribute to both the D.C. monuments & of course, the Rotunda 🙂
  • If you haven’t read Part Two of Making the Switch yet and my journey to going full time with photography, and you have a couple more minutes to spare, go read! Chances are it might surprise you a little! The last part will be on the blog next week and I’m getting that post ready this week!
  • I’m also working on putting together my “Best Of” blog posts for both my favorite images from weddings this past year as well as proposals & engagements that I’ve been lucky enough to capture!

But enough about work, here’s the actual FUN part of this post! Last week I went to New York City for two days and then came back only to fly out to New Orleans for a couple of days with my family! Here’s a quick look at some of the places I got to visit during these two trips. I’ll do a more in depth blog post at some point as well with our entire itinerary for anyone that’s planning a visit out soon!
