The first wedding event of the week was the Roas. Traditional this is the “cleaning” of the groomsmen. The groom’s family, however, took this tradition and made it their own. The goal was to get Marc & all the groomsmen as dirty as possible before they cleaned up for the week! This involved sitting them down and having free reign to throw all sorts of food & get them super messy. Think finally getting the chance to pie someone in the face! The groomsmen were laughing while being egged, splattered with milk, dunked in water, whip creamed, bashed with watermelon bits, pied in the face, and topped with sprinkles. At the end there was a bit of begging to stop but friends & family were ruthless. This opportunity just doesn’t come along every day. Enjoy the fun & craziness that was the Roas!
I love that Shahana & Marc’s dad were schemin’ before she egged Marc!
Specks of food flew EVERYWHERE! I was constantly testing how close I could get to the splash zone without getting stuff on my camera.
All cleaned up in time to get dinner, watch a dance performance from Marc’s mom & aunts and for lots of dancing.
I’m pretty sure this event has been the one where I’ve most connected with the moments that unfolded in front of me. I was laughing out loud from behind my camera, cheering siblings on as they got the groomsmen really messy & dancing along while capturing everyone’s moves at the end. Thank you for such a great night to start off #sharcweek! I hope the pictures were able to capture all the fun & joy of the day.
