I had the incredible opportunity to attend Hope Taylor’s workshop in Richmond this past week. I was super excited when I found out I’d be working with her this year but even more so when she invited me to come to her 2 day photography workshop! At a glance her workshop broke down everything technical for shooting a wedding, her wedding client experience, her senior photography program structure, 2 styled shoots and 20+ hours of content over 2 days! Which sounds like a lot and it was! But even more than that, the workshop was a place to learn from an industry leader, see what she had done to build her business, learn her inside tricks and workflows, get hands on experience with posing, meet so many new photography friends, watch some wedding experts work up close and personal and EAT ALL the carbs!! It was an even sweeter experience being able to attend with Caity, who’s a photographer friend! We both were amazed with the fact that we almost filled up our notebooks with notes that we took during the workshop. Hope really was an open book and I was awed by the way she poured into our businesses and how transparent she was with all of us with each aspect of her business 🙂
Something that I didn’t expect as much going into the workshop was being able to actually help out some other attendees with not only fixing technical camera problems but also being able to offer up advice on how I’ve done things personally in my business and getting to hear other photographers’ tips and ideas as well! Everyone not only learned so much from Hope but also so much from everyone around them which was such a blessing. I think I could really go on and on about my two days but I’ll leave it up to the pictures! The first day was all about weddings and so it included a gorgeous French blue southern inspired wedding styled shoot! We got to practice at different “stations” that included a gorgeous French blue invitation suite and details, a beautiful tablescape, a desserts table as well as with Erika & Josh who were our bride and groom for the day!
A huge thanks to all the vendors for putting together such a gorgeous day, I’m so blessed to have been able to photograph their hard work! And if you’re not sick of the pictures from this blog post (I may have included A LOT, I know I know!!) then check out Hope’s blog post of the day as well!
